he's officially a man.

So Josh killed 4 roosters yesterday. Yep. He took out the Burch's roosters because they were waking them up far too early and being mean to all the nice little egg-laying hens. So they are no more -- well, that's not true... they WILL be chicken enchiladas tonight. Yikes!

disclaimer - this footage may be too graphic for some viewers... although no killing was shown, I'm not going to lie... some of the remains (i.e. headless bodies FROM A FAR DISTANCE) have been caught by videotape. The ONLY reason I approved putting it on our blog (because we don't want to lose you as faithful readers!) is because Josh insisted that his manhood be shown via the WORLD wide web and the fact that Burch's 6 year old daughter actually watched the whole process and wasn't scarred for life... in fact, she thought it was cool and even crafted a cute little song about it... weird and kinda morbid... but true... hey - you were warned.

Kia Ora, Y'all! said...

Hope this helps:

I'd spend a couple of days in the area ... all of this is within a relatively short drive:
1) Wanaka -- cute town about an hour from Qtown; not as touristy but pretty lake lots of good day hikes, etc.
2) Queenstown -- touristy and pricey by NZ standards, but still really pretty place to visit and worth seeing, lots of cute little bars & restaurants. Tons of fun activities from here (rafting, jet boating, bungee, etc)
3) Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound -- We've only done Milford. Gorgeous but it rains a LOT here so be prepared -- plus side is it results in lots of pretty waterfalls. The overnight boat trip is pricey but a cool experience. (I think the trips depart from Queenstown, Te Anau, and Manapouri.)
4) Kepler Track -- depending on the time of year and your fitness level, this is supposed to be a great hike starting from Te Anau. Definitely on our list of things to do. You need to book ahead for the huts.
5) Central Otago (Alexandra, Bannockburn, Cromwell Gibbston Valley) -- about an hour outside Qtown there are a lot of cool little wineries, most of which have cheap or free tastings. Pinot Noir is the Central Otago specialty, but much different than the California/Oregon pinots you're probably used to. A fun way to spend the day.

Have a good time!
